The trio, rooted in the process of creation and improvisation, unites musicians
from three different backgrounds.
Feeding on structures, tones and colours, and above all
on a flawless mutual
feeling of each other’s musics, they explore modal musics,
indian, reggae,
jazz, african, latin musics… blending them in a common
construction.
Amrat Hussain on tablas, Yves Perrin on guitar and Gregory
Jouandon
on drums and percussions play on the principle of raga, and
meet around
a form of jazz with endlessly evolving codes.
The trio is blessed with the joy of discovering and the instantaneous
enthusiasm of inventing together, taken by the energies of
both young
and ancient musics.
They create a music of transe in which the bass tabla (from
in Mrdangam tradition)
gives low and distant sounds, in which the tabla engages with
the drums in
what resembles a game of "talking drums" while the
guitar brings
in a complex melodic and mesmerizing tempo.
Transient outbreaks of voices and of the jew’s harp
(from the Gypsy traditions of Rajasthan) give yet new
dimensions to this special, tenacious while fleeting, exhilarating
and dreamlike music, in its fearless approach of a new continent. |
